An individual’s reaction to stress can affect their marriage and family life, causing discord and isolation. The trigger may be something current or an unresolved issue from the past. Often psychotherapy (talk therapy) is enough, but other techniques can be used to challenge thoughts, feelings and behaviors that may be contributing to the depression/anxiety.
The integration of psychotherapy, along with EMDR therapy, CBT and Mindfulness allows for deeper and more meaningful change to occur. Depression can be more complex in nature with a genetic component. Collaboration with a psychiatrist for medication management may be an appropriate option.
