Being mindful allows us to pay attention to the moment, the experience we are having in that moment, without judgment or rejection, with kindness and acceptance. The meditation connects the body, breath and thoughts. MBSR is the integration of Mindfulness Meditation and yoga, reducing the effects of our culturally sedentary lifestyle.
Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center developed MBSR in 1979. It has been used to ease chronic pain and studies have shown a decrease in utilization of pain medication with an increase in activity levels and self esteem.
